The Groove Site Has a New Format??????
Over five years ago we started the shop for two reasons. The first
was I was sick and tired of seeing "traditional" bike shops pimp and whore on BMX solely for the sake of the almighty
dollar. "Traditional" bike shops didn't give a tinkers damn about the well being of BMX, the riders or the overall
lifestyle aspect of it. It could die tommorow and they would simply replace it with alterrain big wheels or whatever was the
fad of the moment. I felt that BMX was healthy enough to stand alone in it's own shop with it's own clothing and
it's own feel. It's a lifestyle not a sport. It no longer needed to be integrated with mountain and road bikes, kayaks
or fruit boots. The second reason we started the shop was to help unify the many different local scenes that
existed among the 150 or so mile radius of the tri-state and DC/Baltimore area. Try to turn riders on to other riders (not
gay like, get your mind out of the gutter) but expose scenes to other scenes, make new friends, travel to new places and generally
have a kickass time doing it. In the last five years we have proven a BMX ONLY shop can survive and
prosper, accomplished alot of goals, grown at a crazy pace and changed and evolved with BMX in a positive way. In
an effort to keep the positive change going, we are changing the format of the website. The look and feel will stay the same
but we are focusing the content more on what's going on in the BMX scene around us. More event coverage, lifestyle articles
and focus on the riders in the surrounding 200 mile area. Want your pics published, event flyer or even an article you wrote put
on the site? Simply email it over to jamie@groovemerchants.net and we'll post it up for you. This site is as much you guys, the riders, as it is ours. We will also be updating the site
almost dailey and keeping the fresh content rolling. Another change coming, in the site, will be way more
focus on our team. We have an amazing group of rippers that ride for us. Riding for Groove ain't all it's cracked up to be.
Not only do they have to represent and promote the shop but they have to take the outlandish ideas of the kook that runs the
place and make them a reality, which is damn tough sometimes. The team guys have helped make the shop what it is today. Starting
this week we will be running a series of bike checks and bio's about them, which will run for the next few weeks and
finish with a brand new team page. Keep checking the site dailey and send in those pics, articles, advice on
your love life or whatever else you would like to see on the site. Enjoy the new format and appreciate the killer BMX
scene you have made for yourselves.
