Advised Reading for the Modern BMXer...
Yet another snow day. No school and No riding. Since there is nothing else
to do today, take a few minutes and check out some of these websites we have compiled for you. Maybe you have already checked
them out, never heard of them or just have forgotten to check them lately. Regardless, these sites have a little slower, less
disposable feel and you can easily spend hours reading some of the best content in BMX right now. Hell, you might even learn
something.

News, Rumors, Hints, and Allegations...
Although we're stuck in the middle of one of the coldest Winters on record,
it seems the knobby hobbie is alive and well and things at the shop continue to move in a frenzy. We revamped the work area
to accomodate Evan and his ever growing mechanical needs. Basically we can service multiple bikes without stepping on each
other. We also added more selling space with a full retail display for 43 hardware. After almost a year and a half it looks
like we should have a new ceiling including more (much needed) lighting and a new state of the art security camera system.
This coming on the heels of last weeks shoplifter fiasco. The shitsack shoplifters were caught and prosecuted by the full
wrath of Groove Justice. Remember kids... Crime Don't Pay! Fit came through with some new TEAL WALL FAF TIRES
this week and we should have our fair share of them in stock and ready to rock next week along with CHROME Perfect 10 bars.
We have plenty of black one's on the shelf NOW if you can't wait. In Team related news... The Slacker Joey Richards
dropped NEW Slacker Clothing Company Tee's and Hoodies this past week. Mr. Richards claims "This is the
best Slacker graphic to date". He celebrated by also dropping a NEW webedit, which can be found over on the Facebook.
Speaking of webedits, Dan Depre and the infamous "BEAN" launched a new webedit last week that garnered rave reviews,
in the BMX Press, and made the frontpage of the www.thecomeupbmx.net. Look for Dan to be aboard a New Haro SD Frame in the near future. Ryan Hullenger has been demonstrating Vert prowess
lately on the new 11ft. Half Pipe in the Dirtyburg Skatepark. He sent over this sequence of gnarlyism (pictured above) with
photo creds belonging to Mark Peacemaker and the Kirbster. Is a vert future ahead for the "Hitman"? Will he
forego racing in the Single A Pro ranks for a bright future and a shot at fame, riding Vert, on the Dew Tour?? These
and many more questions must be answered in coming days... We received an interesting email from the Godfather
of the tri-state BMX scene, Brian Carron today. Posing the question, "Hey! What's B been up to??" Inspired
by this, we will be doing a "Hey! What's B been up to??" column every few months. In unrelated news, Groove
Team Manager Dan Grooms is super Rad and skipped a session riding a very very NOT CROWDED Ray's Mountain Bike Park to come
pickup a stranded truck load of Groove employees in Kent, Ohio Wednsday. Shitty luck struck yet another Groove related
transmission. Thanks Again Dan! The "Bringin' Hell to Baltimore" trip is pickin' up momentum and
is filling up quick. There are only eight spots left so act now. The Saturday Morning Workshop "Video Editing"
class has moved to Saturday Jan. 29th at 10am. I'll have more details up right here, on the website this weekend.

Capt. Dan Grooms undoubtedly has more energy than most humans. And for sure
has a better gift for gab than anyone I know. Road Trips with Dan are far from boring and he can make a six hour
drive feel like a few minutes or a few days depending on which seat your sitting in. Dan has more than a little history in
BMX and is a fierce rival in a game of BMX trivia. When he added Haro/Groove Factory Team Manager to his long list of responsibilitys
I was beyond stoked. Besides runnin' the Team he is also the track director at Hagerstown BMX, a serious threat in the
26-34 nervous class, CEO of the Bracket race clothing brand, a BMX collector, a lover of Malibu Rum, a race Dad, a husband
to be, and holds down a forty hour a week job on top of it all. There are seriously not enough minutes in the day for this
guy. But enough from me we'll let the Captain do the talking from here on out. And now here is The Dan Grooms Bike Check...

Wheel Building Workshop this Saturday Morning (1/15/11) 10am-Noon...
The most frequently asked question at the shop, besides the weight of a part,
would have to be "How do you true or build a wheel ?". Trueing and building a wheel can be a little intimidating at
first and definitly can put a hole in your wallet. Most shop's act like it's a secret science only to be dealt with by
the most savvy of head bicycle mechanics. Truth is, it's really not too hard, especially if you have somebody willing to teach
you hands on. All you really need is some instruction, a spoke wrench, two pencils, some tape and your bicycle. Before
long you will be a wheel building wizard and the envy of all your friends for your wheel building skillzzz.
This Saturday morning (1/15/2011) we will be holding the first of our Saturday Morning Workshops. This one will be "Wheel
Building 101" and focus on basic Wheel Trueing and 3 Cross Wheel Building (starting from scratch). The times are
10am-Noon and the cost is $20 per person. Your $20 covers the instruction and a multi size spoke wrench which you may keep.
You may bring your own wheel (everybody has wheel that need's trued or if you have one you have wanted built up) or we
will have some old rims, spokes and hubs that you may work with. Our shop wheelbuilder Steve Kitner, of "Stevebilt"
wheel fame, will be on hand as the instructor for the class. This is the best oppurtunity you will have to learn to build
wheels and you may be the next Stevebilt of your own neighborhood. If you already know how to build wheels but would
like to learn more about it, we will be offering and "Wheel Building 102" class in February focusing on more complicated
builds such as 4 cross, 48 spoke wheels, radial and twist lacing ect... No need to signup ahead of time, just show up at the
shop at 10am and be prepared to learn the art of wheel building and maintence.

Groove Merchants is proud to announce our NEW Haro/Groove Merchants Race Team for the 2011/2012 season...
It's been a minute since we sponsored a full race team and thought we were
way overdue. Groove Merchants has partnered up with Haro Bicycles to sponsor TWO full teams for the 2011/2012 Race
season. The Haro/Groove Merchants Factory Race Team's will also be receiving support from Fly Racing and will be sporting
custom made 2011 Fly Racing Evolution Uniforms along with riding Haro frames and the new Haro Cliqued Race Line of parts.
S&M is on board as well. Expect to see some white knuckles wrapped around S&M Race XLT and GrandSlam Bars. As previously stated we will have two teams. A Maryland State Series Team and a Virginia State Series/Regional National
Team. Both will have six plus riders on the roster. Captain Dan Grooms is runnin' the show, pulling Team Manager duties for
both teams as well as being a team rider. Ryan "The Hitman" Hullenger is back for his sixth year as a Groove Team
rider and Captain Dan has already chosen a few other Race Track Assassins but has his eye out, scoutin' for talent,
to finish filling the rosters. Haro/Groove Factory riders will receive shop discounts, photo contigentcy's, Haro
& Fly reduced pricing and more free Groove/Haro/Fly swag than you shake a three dicked monkey at. We also have two
Groove Factory Race Van's to make getting to the race's comfortable and stylish. Look for a current team roster,
Bike Checks, a new race team web page added to the site, and plenty of updates, schedules and news concerning the
Race Team in upcoming days and weeks. If you think you have what it takes to race for the Groove email Captain Dan at
Gtowndan84@yahoo.com. See ya at the Race's

Our 4th Annual "Bringin' Hell to Baltimore" Charm City Trip is goin'
down Sunday, February 6. Once again it's $20 per person and that includes private rental of the Charm City skatepark (from
6pm-9pm), transportation to Baltimore from the shop and back and plenty of road soda's throughout the day. The van's
